BERLIN (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - The Catholic Church has lost touch with the “living reality” of LGBT+ people, said one of more than 100 German priests who are defying the Vatican this week by blessing same-sex couples.

In a move that angered liberals within the 1.3 billion-member Church, the Vatican’s doctrinal office said in March that priests cannot bless same-sex unions in lieu of marriage, despite ministers doing so in countries such as Germany.

“If we say that God is love, I cannot tell people who embrace loyalty, unity and responsibility to each other that theirs is not love, that it’s a fifth-or sixth-class love,” said Christian Olding, a priest in the western city of Geldern.

“I look forward to the blessing. We’re going have all forms of relationships: classic heterosexual marriages, divorced and remarried couples, unmarried couples and yes, also same-sex couples,” Olding told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Yeah seeing almost all major media outlets siding with Israel f-ing sucks

reading this tweet and I’m like....”duh that is the point” Israel wants less people to see what’s going on there because they know what they’re doing in Gaza is horrific....:mess:

The citizens of Santiago (Chile's capital city and biggest city with 5,6M inhabitants) elected the Communist Party candidate as their mayoress

Not a communist myself but it’s good to see fellow left-leaning parties and candidates winning a major election.

The Biden administration has approved the sale of $735 million in precision-guided weapons to Israel, raising red flags for some House Democrats who are part of the shifting debate over the U.S. government’s support for the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Looks like the Law that was meant to make trans' people easier in Spain will not go forward :bradley:

Source (in spanish originally, ) https://www.publico.es/politica/psoe-recula-y-dice-ahora-abstendra-tramitacion-ley-trans-congreso.html

The PSOE (Spanish so-called socialist party, the one the country's prime minister is part of) backs down and now says it will abstain in the processing of the 'trans law' in Congress

If it maintains its abstention during Tuesday's plenary session, which could still change, the law would not be admitted for processing in view of the expected vote against by PP (Conservative/far right, second most voted party) and Vox (far right). The socialists, being against the text, initially wanted the initiative to be submitted to parliament and the articles to be modified.

Three hours after sources in the leadership of the socialist group confirmed to Público that the party would "facilitate" the trans law's passage through the Congress of Deputies, these sources have now indicated that the PSOE "will abstain". With this position, which could still change during Tuesday's plenary session, and the foreseeable rejection of the PP and Vox, the bill presented by ERC (Catalan classic left wing, pro independence), Junts (catalan liberals, pro independence), Más País (madrid left wing), CUP (catalan left wing pro independence), Compromís (valencian left wing) and Nueva Canarias (which is essentially the same draft bill that the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, is handling and which the First Vice-President, Carmen Calvo, has blocked within the Executive) would not be admitted for processing.

Likewise, the group's leadership had insisted that they did not agree with the content of the bill, which meant that it would have to be amended during its passage through Congress. Now, the party asserts that it will "abstain", although this position could change during the debate on the bill in the Congress.

Thanks for the translation! I do understand some Spanish but enough to read the entire article and understand everything in it lol

I also love Spanish politics and find them to be some of the most interesting in Europe

Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock from the Greens has failed to disclose non-parliamentary income over several years, from 2018 to 2020. That previously undisclosed amount of money reaches 25K-37K according to several sources.

This could seriously jeopardize her future plans, considering that corruption is a very hot topic in Germany thanks to several corrupt politicians from the CDU/CSU :awkney:
