So, no one's created a thread for theatre despite the forum description. Free free to discuss your favourite musicals/plays, book, score and actor/actress. Tell us what you've seen and what's on your wishlist, which composers you love, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Pasek and Paul.

Most plays bore me to death :katy_pie:, so I'll list my top 5 musicals.

I missed this and am a flop. Sorry to our master of ceremonies, @beng.

I'll start with fave musicals, not necessarily in order:

  • Hamilton
  • Sweeney Todd
  • Hedwig and the Angry Inch
  • Spring Awakening
  • Les Misérables
  • Dear Evan Hansen
  • The Color Purple
  • Chicago
  • Parade
  • Cabaret

I was obsessed with Rent when it came out in theaters, so my aunt (r.i.p.) surprised me with tickets to see it live on stage. It was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.

Other than Rent, the only live shows I can remember seeing (not including school field trips) are Wicked and some Scooby Doo live show that my mom or aunt took me to shortly before the movie came out.

I had tickets to see Dear Evan Hansen in Chicago this year, but... :gaga-scream:

Spoiler

As an adult, I think the Rent movie is kind of awful.

Aside from live shows, I'm a big fan of movie versions of musicals.

Anyone else miss going to the theatre?

Ugh, so much. I don't go to the theatre as much as I should, but it would be rare I wouldn't go at least once a month or two at the most :(

The Tony's this year are also sad cause there are so few nominees. I managed to see these that made the cut this year:

  • The Inheritance
  • Slave Play
  • Jagged Little Pill (The Boston workshop version)
  • Tina

Hope that doesn't include POTO and Cats lol

Cats, I refuse to waste my time on. I like POTO as a kid but haven't rewatched it as an adult.

Another song, "Far Too Late", from Cinderella.

Thoughts on ALW's latest work?

The first song was fine, but the second song was stunning after 3 seconds so I turned it off and I'll wait to hear it on stage, haha. Lol to them thinking it'll open in April tho.
