Because our constitution is pretty strict on that. It is not enforceable unless we change the constitution and this constitutional change doesn't have the necessary majority in parliament. Same goes for any compulsory vaccinations.

I don't think that would do much since vaccine take-up is not that significant of an issue. The fully vaccinated rate is not much lower in Germany compared to France.

  • Scotland: 1 in 95 (previously 1 in 85)

Infection fell in all regions, except Northern Ireland.

England puts South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini and Zimbabwe on the travel red list over the detection of a new variant. Flights from these countries will be suspended starting at noon tomorrow.  

This variant has 32 mutations, about double that of the Delta variant. Early indication shows that it is more transmissible than the latter, and is also suspected to have higher vaccine evasiveness.

This variant has been named Omicron.
