Boris Johnson, the UK prime minister, will face a no-confidence vote later today at 6pm. According to the rules in the Conservative party, a no-confidence vote is trigger when more than 15% of Conservative MPs submit a no-confidence letter to Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee. This means more than 54 Conservative MPs have done so.

If Johnson survives, he will be safe from another no-confidence vote for a year; if he loses, he will have to step aside and he will be disqualified from the next leadership election.

The vote will close at 8pm and the results will be announced shortly after.

126 Tory MPs have publicly announced their backing of Johnson.

For comparison, Theresa May secured the necessary numbers to survive by lunchtime for her no-confidence vote.

For reference, Johnson won with a lower % of the votes than Theresa May in 2018, John Major in 1995 and Margaret Thatcher in 1990.
