ended up watching Pearl 

It was fine, Mia was great but the story didn't quite do it for me, it reminded me of The Act (series) which I just found so much more fascinating.

I loved both X and Pearl - they actually struck a disturbing nerve with me which is hard for most movies to do. I can't wait for MaXXXine

I honestly just felt sorry for every character in the movie.

I guess I found Mia's character to be inconsistent though: there are plenty of times where she shows her ability to be empathetic with other characters, but at the same time she's painted as a «psycopathic serial-killer» type (the thing about mudering animals ever since she was little, saying she lacked something other people have), it didn't make sense to me.

not sure if it counts as horror but I am obssessed with "The Last of Us" series on HBO, just watched the second episode and it's just phenomenal 

the way HBO stomps on Netflix quality-wise is actually insane

It's a post apocalyptic survive horror like 'The Walking Dead', although they gave a valid scientific explanation for the zombies since the beginning in this case that is different from usual, it's based on a video game, first 2 episodes were good if you're into the genre and it's HBO that is a garancy.
