I just made my friend watch this for the first time, and I'm still blown away at this incredible speech and performance. 

She's not a huge pre-Joanne fan and says "Some people seemed to think it was comedic or entertaining. But she was talking about some issues she seems to have personally. And I feel like it was foreshadowing into her Joanne era before she even knew there was going to be one." PERFECT.

This should have gone down as more iconic than her other VMAs performances tbh. One of her absolute best songs and a stunningly self aware commentary about who she was at the height of her career

Truly iconic and my second fave song by her ever. Deserves more recognition. What a great VMA, same night Bey performed one of her best songs ever and showed her bump for the first time. 

Later on when she tries to kiss Britney is def a bit cringe tho.
