Merrick Garland Named As Next US Attorney General

Federal judge on the US Court of Appeals for the DC circuit, Merrick Garland, has been named as the next US attorney general by Biden's transition team.

President Obama previously nominated him to the Supreme Court in 2016 but the Republican-controlled Senate refused to hold a hearing for the nomination.

With the Democrats now controlling the Senate after the double wins in Georgia, Biden's candidate for Garland's replacement can be confirmed easily.

Exactly this. I think this was the wrong call. It's not the end or anything, but I think he should've reached out further and nominated someone involved in BLM.

I kinda hope that Garland retires after the first year and we get Yates after.  Everything I've seen indicates that she would eviscerate current Admin nazis with every power the DOJ gave her.
