Also to add to the US list - the “modern” hot dog is probably the most popular here, although I rarely eat them anymore. It is pretty much synonymous with American culture, in particular NY street food and baseball games. And the annual Nathan’s International Hot Dog eating contest is held on July 4th (Independence Day). It’s pretty disgusting though imo....

Filipino cuisine is so good and underrated imo. Christmas at a filipino household is an experience 

Some of my favorites:

- Champorado (chocolate rice porridge)

- Ginataang Bilo bilo (or halo-halo) - rice balls, plantains, sweet potatoes, tapioca pearls cooked in sweet coconut milk

- Any cassava dessert like this cake

 

Also pancit or noodle dishes are amazing too!
