Which Social Media Should Last Or Not + More

For all the Social Media there is, what is your opinion of which Social Media will last and which one won't? And which one do you want it to last or you don't want it to last. And which one you think it will stick around but it will be quiet?

I think Instagram and Twitter and YouTube is going to last the longest and it should because it's heavily used and it's good but I really think Twitter really needs to take control of it's own issues that they have but they do improve sometimes. And I think Facebook is the one that might eventually end and considering it's own controversy they had in the past and it should end. And I think Skype and Tumblr will stick around but quietly. But TikTok I have no clue of what to expect for the future, because it may be like another Vines situation or it last. And I think all Social Media has pros and cons obviously.

I think snapchat is slowly dying/already died due to the negative connotations from predators using it as well as it just becoming a cesspool of ads and “reality shows”although I do think it will forever be credited for creating/popularizing “stories”, it no longer really makes sense to create content just for Snapchat when you can do the same on Instagram with pre-existing content.

truly when they killed streaks, tried to limit filters and allowed media companies and celebrities to have featured content was the end of all the fun

I'm trying not to doubt Tik Tok at this point, but I also don't see it lasting super long. It's not like it's by any means unreplaceable. I also agree that Snapchat is dying, it's kinda irrelevant at this point.

Facebook will probs be a thing forever as will Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit. All of them are insanely popular and can't be easily replaced. If Tumblr didn't die once they banned porn, it'll probably stick around in the background.

I'm still bitter about Myspace. I get it was new and the first big social media platform, so nostalgia is a given, but I still miss it.

I don't think Facebook is going away but I also know less and less younger kids use it, which is a telling sign. I still think it has enough older generations to sustain it for a very long time. I can't see myself NOT using Facebook.

Snapchat seems to be on a similar course of Facebook. Current users will always want to use it, but maybe younger generations not so much. I still love the idea of Snap and would hate to see it go away, but I also can't imagine myself being 40 and wanting a snapchat :laughga:

I wonder when a new social media is going to emerge, similar to Myspace/FB, and what that will look like.

Snapchat isn't going anywhere. The number of daily active users has gone up consistently over the past couple of years, having added almost 100 million people in the past 3 years. It just isn't talked about as much because it's more of a mature platform at this point and isn't adding features at the same rate it used to.

I think that's the biggest problem with Snapchat is the predators same has Twitter and that is exactly what is dying. And it seems the company doesn't care about these issues.

I don't think Tik Tok will last too long. I see it having a short life-span. LinkedIn, Snapchat and Tumblr will die eventually too.

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit and Instagram are really the only platforms I view as being permanent.

I see TikTok has the new Vines and I see it has an improvement of Vines. And I'm expecting more controversies from TikTok.

And what doesn't help either is they have issues with predators on Snapchat.

Oh there definitely will be another social media easily, because there always is. And pretty much when Facebook came a long, it replaced Myspace. Because I remember my brother told me he used Myspace but when Facebook came out, he started to use that instead. And history always repeats itself but in a odd way...

TikTok is bigger than vine ever was though, the audience is much larger and the involvement of celebrities definitely contribute to its size

Everyone is saying TikTok will die off but I don't think so. It is huge and insanely popular and I don't see it going anywhere. Plus they actually listen to their community unlike most social medias

And that makes sense and I'm a little surprised that Gaga didn't use it during the time before Chromatica came out, like 2 weeks before its release.
