It was unlikely because it struggled to win any award. Hold My Hand had that nomination on lock

Do I get this right? Every branch can vote in their own field and for best picture for nominations, but in the final voting every member votes in every category?

BUT for movies you have to sort them, from 1 to 10 I think

For other categories you have to pick 1 favorite

They are the frontrunner but not the sure winner, and imo it also depends if Naatu Naatu won by a large amount of votes or not bc if the battle was in fact very close, then it could face the "Top Gun" problem at the Oscars because the movie was nominated for Best Picture and some people would vote for Hold My Hand also because they loved the movie (this is just my take)

this case is the exact reasoning why Deadwyler & Davis was snubbed, similar to Gaga. last minute heavy rotation payola PR push, voters automatically assumed they were locked, putting them lower on the ballot enough for Riseborough to get the top votes

Did it, really? It wasnt submitted so it was not a contender for International film. I doubt it was even in the talks for other categories...

But yeah, I agree that its not locked to win.

well... it had underperformed in shortlists... some tech categories

many predicting it as BP contender too... but lost "force" once shortlists were released

Yup. All categories use first-past-the-post, except Best Picture, which uses instant run-off.
