UK breaking news

The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and the health secretary, Sajid Javid, have resigned. Huge damage to Boris Johnson.

@BenG I haven't followed UK politics recently, what scandal or why is there pressure for Boris to resign?

The latest one is that he appointed someone as deputy chief whip knowing that he is a sexual predator, and he recently sexually assaulted a guy. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Many cabinet ministers currently in No. 10 asking Johnson to go. Looks like he'll be gone by the end of the day.

Johnson defies calls to resign. Secretary for Northern Ireland resigns, becoming the third cabinet secretary to do so.

Yes I have. Quite the development, I wonder what will come out of it.

It's far, far too early to speculate on a verdict (we don't even know the charges), but I predict he'll win the Republican primary bid  and then lose the 2024 general to Biden.

The persecution complex has energized Republicans back to him, but as we saw in the 2022 midterms, that's not enough
