The base (7-core GPU) M1 MacBook Air remains in the lineup at $999. The 8-core GPU M1 MacBook Air has been dropped. That was sold at $1099.

"In macOS 13 and later on Mac computers with Apple silicon chips, the Virtualization framework supports Rosetta in ARM Linux virtual machines (VMs). Rosetta is a translation process that allows users to run apps that contain x86_64 instructions on Apple silicon. In macOS, this allows apps built for Intel-based Mac computers to run seamlessly on Apple silicon; Rosetta allows the same capability for Intel Linux apps in ARM Linux VMs."

iPadOS 16 will come to iPad (5th generation), which is equipped with the A9 chip and 2GB memory.

Yet, iOS 16 won't be coming to the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 6s/6s Plus - A9 and 2GB memory
  • iPhone SE (1st generation) - A9 and 2GB memory
  • iPhone 7 - A10 and 2GB memory
  • iPhone 7 Plus - A10 and 3GB memory

PLANNED OBSOLESCE RIGHT THERE

Apple was still selling the iPod Touch (7th generation) last month but it won't get iOS 16.

Apple is still selling the Apple Watch Series 3 but it won't get watchOS 9.

Major f*ck you to consumers tbh.

I will be sad for iPad Air 2 to finally be cut off. But I'm also ready to buy an M2 iPad Pro this year.

REALLY not sold on Stage Manager as the solution to iPad's woes tho. Excited to play with it.

Yeah, this is bullish*t. I am surprised because I feel they would never do things like this before. The Series 3 should've been discontinued two years ago.

They're so greedy. The SE should have been the entry-level model since last year, at least.

Stage Manager looks too complicated to me. You have the Dock at the bottom and also this at the side. So confusing.

Yeah, I feel the dock should be hidden by default. Esp on the iPad because there is such limited space. But maybe it works better in use, I dunno. I do think it'll be good for external displays, which are usually large enough that that's fine. IF I could use my iMac as an external display, everything would be peachy, but of course, no.

A shame the external display feature is only available on M1 iPad models.

Yeah, I honestly can't believe it. They previous two pro models are only marginally less powerful. Just nonsense.

Worst products in terms of value:

  • Apple Watch Series 3
  • iPod Touch (7th generation)
  • 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019)
  • iPad Pro (2020)

Apparently both can be turned off! This is huge actually.
